Shape memory alloy (SMA) exhibits shape memory effect (SME) and superelasticity(PE), and is an important functional material. TiNi-based SMAs possess excellent SME/PE, very good biocomparability, good workability, and thus become the most important SMAs. In our group, TiNi SMAs are intensively studied. Recent researches in TiNi SMAs include the optimized SME/PE, the ribbons characterization, the thermal properties in Ni-rich TiNi SMAs, etc. In this laboratory, high damping alloys are also investigated, such as TiNi SMAs and magnesium alloys. The joining of high active alloys in Ti-based alloys/intermetallics is also studied.
