Topic: Controlling Morphology and Functions of Theranostic Lipid Nanoparticles

Time: Nov. 18, 2024 AM 10:50 ~12:10

Location: Room 102, Boya Lecture Building

Summary of Speech:

Lipid Nanoparticles (LNPs) have been widely used as theranostic delivery carriers in different forms: vesicles (liposomes), solid spherical and discoidal nanoparticles. Examples can be found in liposomes for cancer treatment (Doxil), mRNA-LNP vaccines for COVID-19, etc. In this presentation, I will focus on our recent research on lipid discoidal nanoparticles (known as “bicelle”) covering the topics of its formation mechanism, structural characterization, bioavailability, preliminary in vitro study and other applications. This presentation shows that rational design of LNPs provides a promising direction to make drug delivery more efficient.
