Invitation of Applications for Multiple Tenure-track Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor Positions in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering National Taiwan University

Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. degree in science/engineering discipline and are experts in any of the following areas: metallic materials, processing of metals, energy ceramics, structural ceramics, advanced ceramics, and ceramic-based composites, polymer science and soft materials, electronic materials. Four tenure-track faculty positions in the department are available, starting from February 1 2024 or August 1, 2024.

 

The ability to teach in English is also required. Candidates who can teach 2-3 of the following courses will be highly regarded: physical metallurgy, thermodynamics of materials, mechanics of materials, crystallography, failure analysis , engineering mathematics, ceramic physics, ceramic-matrix composites, electronic ceramics, electronic packaging, electronic materials-related courses, polymer chemistry, physical chemistry of polymers, polymerphysics, polymer composites, polymer processing (rheology) .

 

Candidates should, by an August 25, 2023 deadline, submit his/her C.V., a photocopy of Ph.D. degree certificate (a certified copy is required if candidates pass the interview stage), contact information including e-mail addresses of three referees (which should include the candidate’s doctoral dissertation supervisor for those applying for an assistant professor position), undergraduate and graduate transcripts, 3 to 5 off-prints of recent publications (within 5 years), a brief statement of future research interests, and a brief statement of teaching plans and course outlines.

 

Compensation is standard according to government regulations, but ample opportunities for merit-based bonuses are available to qualified new faculty members, including Yushan Scholars and Yushan Young Scholars Programs of the Ministry of Education, Outstanding Scholars Program of National Taiwan University, and Merit Pay for Recruiting and Retaining Exceptionally Outstanding Faculty Members Programs of the Ministry of Education, Outstanding Talent Foundation Program, etc.
