Abstract:
Atom probe tomography (APT) is an emerging technique being useful for studying the hydrogen behavior in metals at very fine scale. The advantage of this technique is critical for underpinning our understanding of hydrogen embrittlement and its mitigation in the aspect of materials design. This presentation will begin with the principle of APT, then will describe the technical challenges due to the rapid diffusion of hydrogen in steels and will close by showing the latest development of the cryogenic sample transfer system for addressing the challenges.1
